Vans Slip-On Pro Checkerboard Shoes
The Vans slip on is as iconic as they come. Since its inception in 1977 with the birth of the Vans #48, later known as the Vans Slip On, the shoe had immediate success. With a combination of its low profile design and the ability to slip it on and off with such ease, it was hugely popular with skateboarders. During this period, Steve Van Doren, son of Vans founder Paul Van Doren took notice that skaters were colouring in parts of the rubber midsole of their shoe with black ink to create a checkerboard look. With this inspiration, Steve developed the idea further, moving the pattern to the Canvas of the shoe to create what we now know as the Vans Slip On Checkerboard.
With the evolution of skateboarding came the greater need for added support in skate shoes, The Vans Slip on style has always skated well, but it was time to give it a retool to meet the demands of modern day skateboarding. The Vans Slip on Pro is the classic silhouette packed with upgrades for enhanced performance, this includes a sturdier canvas upper, single-wrap foxing tape, UltraCush HD sockliners that help keep your foot closer to the board, but ensuring you’ve still got a high level of impact cushioning, DURACAP reinforcement rubber underlays in higher wearing areas and of course topped off with the classic Vans original waffle outsole.
The Checkerboard Slip On Pro colour way features the classic checkerboard canvas print, clean white midsole, the trademark Vans Off The Wall skateboard logo in red on the heel and gum coloured outsole.
